it's amazing how human beings' vocabulary have expanded over the years. descriptive words come in wide varieties.
that meal was wonderful.
that was an awesome movie.
i had a great day.
my friends are amazing.
just to name a few.
isn't it funny how these words are the same words we use to describe our God?
our God is an awesome God.
how great is our God.
these words are so commonly uttered that we unconciously incorporate them into our daily lives.
words like 'nice' don't seem to cut it anymore. people rarely say 'i had a nice day'. the word seems to fall short from describing an enjoyable day.
i figure even if a new word is made to portray God, it would probably sooner or later be used to describe a plate of spaghetti too.
our vocabulary is just too limited to truly describe the God of the universe. our understanding and imagination are confined.
i definitely don't hope we consider God and kungfu panda to be comparable!
i guess sometimes words really are not enough.

yeah, that's a better way to look at it. words that should be descriptive enough become more of words we use when we wanna be polite but not tell a lie. haha
Alternatively (and this is an interesting issue), people are like children happy to keep on making mud pies in the slum because they don't understand what a holiday at the beach is like.
Explaining yet another C.S. Lewis quote (paraphrased), people don't realise how truly magnificent (or insert another superlative here) God is, and are too easily satisfied by what they have, and unaware, might even say blind to the fact, that this world and all its pleasures are puny by comparison.
i get what you're trying to say. sometimes we get glimpses of God's glory in our lives but then we lose focus again. i think it has to do with the danger we were warned about, of falling in love with what the world has to offer.
a lot of times, even when we know it's not right, we long for that moment of satisfaction this world can offer although we know it will not last. hmm, are we being diverted? haha

Our God is the creator of all, including the words and language we use. So how can the Creator be defined and described in the words of his creation? He's too amazing for mere adjectives (er, that's words used to describe things)!!

i would feel insulted but i'm too busy laughing haha
surprisingly i do know what adjectives mean;) but still have trouble remembering the meaning of verbs and nouns and all your other favourite words haha
